Easter - Part 1

So we will be focusing on Easter and the stories leading up to the Crucifixion and Resurrection.  I am getting most of my ideas from this blogs e-book they have available for download.  They divide it into weeks but I started late so we aren't quite following their schedule.

The first story we focused on was "Jesus' triumphant entry" from Matthew 21:1-11  I used her children's bible to tell the story.  So she had pictures to look at and focus on as I read the story.  With each story we will do a window frame project. So for this one she got to sharpen crayons....

Then I melted them with an iron....

She then glued the frame and picture of palm leaves on them....

We will then hang each one up on our window in the living room.

For this story we focused on the idea that they were happy that Jesus was coming and would shout hosanna and lay down the palm branches.

The next time we got together we reviewed the story.  We again reiterated the concept that the people were happy to see Jesus.  So I cut out palm branches and had her lay them down and shout "Hosanna" every time.

Then she walked Jesus across the palm branches, continuing to shout "Hosanna"

Abc Review & Letter E

Well we had another adventurous week.  We had doctors appointments, sick kiddos, sick grandparents and little help.  But surprisingly we got quite a bit of learning time in! So we finished some of our letter review that we didn't get to last week.

One activity we did was she had stamps of all the letters we have learned and she then got to put them in the correct matching line.  She did ok with this.  I think the stamps themselves were a little small for her hands.

Then she had to match picture cards that had the Big and Little letter on each piece.  She did really well with this, but only enjoyed it moderately. lol

Next she used the same cards but had to find the match around the room.  She also had fun jumping on the matching letters.

Next she had to find the matching Little letter and put a play-do dot on it to mark it.  She was able to locate them really quickly!

Then I rolled out the play-do and had her stamp the letters and numbers we have learned and tell me what they were.

Next I had her working with Wikki Stix.  She really enjoyed this.  It is still challenging to her though, so i think we will do this one some more.

She was very particular in how she laid the folded ones down.  The folded ends were always on the same side.  Her face is an expression of  "I have to fold this perfectly!!!!"

So then we went on to some "E" work.

Play-do pre-writing...
Case differentiating with Dot Markers...

Dot art...
Placing pink stickers on our letter...

"E" is for Elephant Pre-writing...

"E" is for Elmo finger painting!!!

For our Colors we used our Bears.
She had to match the bear to the color circle.

Then she matched her bears to the correct egg.  This wasn't a hit so much.

She instead wanted to pretend her eggs were cameras.....
And her bears need to be rocked to sleep...

Then we got our sensory bin out and played snow ball fight with our styrofoam balls, since we have had the lousiest winter ever here lol.

I am not going to but our Bible theme work on here.  We are doing Easter themes from here on out so I will have special posts for the that.  But here is a sneak peak of one of our projects.  I will put at the bottom under resources some of the easter links I'm using.
Ada has been trying to figure out how to put the cake back together....
...And decided her mouth might be helpful, but found out tasted AWFUL! lol :)

Caiden has been working on opening and closing anything he can find! Here he is working on the play fridge :)

Best Buds!

Blueberry Madness!!!!

Letter - D and ABC review

So this week has been nuts.  My husband started a new job this week which now means he his not home as much each day.  We get him on Saturdays now, but less each day.  And this week he had training over night so I was alone two nights this week!!!! It went pretty well though cuz I had help :)

So learning this week was a little on the low side.  But I am thankful for the times that we did have.
So we did some more "D" work.  Here she is counting dinosaurs and then placing bottle caps that had the corresponding numbers on it. She actually liked this one a lot.

Next she distinguished between Big and Little "D"

She also did some D stamping.

Next we did a lot of Letter Review.  So here I laid out all her letter flash cards.  We sung our abc's as she walked around.  I had her find her letters.

Here she is being silly while learning :) She finding the letters in alphabetical order.

Next I wrote out the letters she has learned.  I then had her place the matching letters. I did several different things to make this challenging in different ways.

Here I put them out of order and she had to switch to the correct order.

Next I wanted her to put them in alphabetical order on her own.  She did ok with this.

Our Bible story was Baby Moses.

Letter D - part 1 and Valentine fun

So now that we are in February, we are onto a new shape, color and number.  We are working on Pink, Heart and 2.  So of course for Valentines, we did heart themed work.

Here she is working on a couple of "What's Different" sheets.  This was was a good activity for her because it was just challenging enough.

Here we used the magnetic pom poms to mark "How Many."

I just LOVE her expressions in these pictures.  She had to color in each heart.  For some reason, she loved this activity :)

Then we did some pattern work. She is getting better at finding the correct picture for the pattern.  I think she doesn't quite get the idea of patterns itself though.

Next she sorted Valentines and Kids.
She also got to do one of her favorite things lately, cutting.  She can not cut in a line at this point.  It's more of snips around the page.

She is getting better at following the lines for her prewriting work.  She actual puts a lot of thought and concentration into this.

She also got to use heart stamps and paint to make a picture.

Our Bible lesson was about Daniel in the Lions Den.  So I found this print out of a lion made of hearts! Perfect!!!!  I cut out the pieces and then would show Bella how to glue it together.  She was really proud of this work.

Letter D Work

She did a lot of dot art work the one day for letter D.

Then she works on some "D" Dinosaur work.  Here she is matching colors with the dinosaurs.

Next we did some prewriting...
Then she got to color and use stickers to decorate her letter paper.
The bible story for this day is Joseph and his coat of many colors.  This was a two day project.  First she finger painted a piece of construction paper.  Then the next day I cut out a coat and she got to glue it on a man I drew....

And yeah I'm no artist at all.  Hence the printing out of EVERYTHING. haha

Bella is particularly fond of dressing herself.  So this day I let her choose certain parts of her outfit... the boots, stocking and skirt :)
