L is for Leaf

~Bella is 34 months~
~Caiden and Ada are 17 months~

Bella worked with the letter "L" this week.  Here she is working in her Calendar notebook on the letter. lol She looks so excited doesn't she.

Then she stamped the letter L...

Poked the letter...

Stamped big and little L in different colors...

And a dot marker.  She worked hard to stay in the dots.  This is a newer development!

And lastly she sorted leafs and apples...

Then we brought in leaves from outside and we talked ALOT about them.  How they are the same, different, color, shape, size.

Then we colored a picture with leaves.

And here she worked on coloring specific parts.  She still doesn't quite get the concept of filling in a space when coloring.

Who built the ark? And Letter C - part 1

This weeks themes centered around Noahs Ark and the letter C.

So I will first go over what we did with Noah.  Each day we read from her children's Bible the story of Noah.
The first day we concentrated on how Noah obeyed God by building the ark.  We talked about how obey God brings blessings and safety.  Then we used a box I had and "built" an ark!

She loved to pretend to be Noah and go in her ark.

The second day we talked about all the work Noah had to do to gather the animals.  So I let her bring stuffed animals into the ark with her.  We also have the Melissa and Doug Ark and we worked on matching animals 2 by 2.

Even the twins got to do some matching and animal sound learning with Bella :)

On the third day, we talked about the rainbow and God's promise to us.  We talked about how his promise is because He loves us and cares for us.  So we did LOTS of color activities that day.

First we made a rainbow on a paper plate with her dot markers.  I started it by making lines for her to follow.

Next we did a game where I would tell her to do certain actions to a color.
Here she is jumping to blue.
Here we are flying to purple

And crawling to red.

Then I had her take blocks I would give her and find the matching color mat.

hehe I love Ada's face.
The we all read a book on colors.

Here she is working on matching color words with the color mat.  She liked this more than I thought she would!

Now for our Letter "C" work!  We did some playdough work....

Prewritting line work....
 Letter tracing and coloring...
Dot Art...

Differentiating between Big "C" and Little"c". This was difficult as they look the same.
Then she did "C" stamping.  I actually used play dough stamps.
Then we did the YUMMIEST part of "C" week :) We made Cookies! We even let the twins help bake!

For Christmas Bella got these Melissa and Doug scissors... Sooo "C" is for cutting!  She loved it! She sat and did this for 15 minutes with no help!  She can't open them very well.  So after she cuts, she uses 2 hands to open them :)

We also worked on some number 1 pages.  The first one she is painting with a q-tip and marker water.  "Marker what?" you say?  Well my little girl likes to forget to cap her markers, so they dry out.  Well instead of throwing them away, you soak the markers in water and you have paint!

Here she traced her name and I helped her with the top line of 1's but she did the bottom all by herself!

Penguins, God made me and More!

This week for our Bible lessons, we did a review on creation - which you can find here.  The we talked about "God made me" and the the first sin.

So we first worked on what makes us special. To illustrate this  I had her make the faces of Bella on her play-do mat.  We talked about how God gave us a mouth to talk to God and eyes to read the Bible.  I then discussed with her the importance of obedience and how it can make us feel to obey and disobey.  We later reinforced feeling with and iPad App that had her work on feeling words.

Then we talked about the story of the first sin with Adam and Eve.  I got these story telling pictures that I colored and then would place in front of her as I told her the story.

She then colored those same pictures as a mini book and I retold the story and asked her questions about what each page was about.

Here we are working on color matching with magnetic pom poms.  She started to get a little bored with this one.

I have another sheet for pom pom that helps with squares.  And for some reason she like this sheet more than the color one.

Then we did some penguin themed activities. First we worked on size sequencing.  This is a more difficult concept for her and she had a hard time focusing for this one.

Then she had to match a colored bow to the colored word on the penguins belly.  She had lots of fun with this one.

Next we worked with number matching.  The penguins are hungry and she had to find which penguin had the correct number for how many dots were on the fish.

Then she enjoyed some reading and an iPad app that worked on words and letters.

So you may ask yourself, what have the twins been learning???

They have been learning the word "No"

"Ada, No -  don't touch that"

"Caiden, Ada - No, No.."

"Caiden, No - That's Bella's breakfast"

Hehe :) I love this age of exploring :)
