Helping around the House

So part of being a little girl is learning how to help her momma around the house.  So I thought I would showcase some of the things she likes to help with!

Bella loves to help her brother.  Learning Cause and Effect.

This is the swivel sweeper.  I keep one of the rods out so that it's Bella size.  You could do the same with a swifter!  She LOVES it.

I must admit, I'm really bad and getting Bella to help me with cooking.  I often just find it "easier" to do it myself.  But I know I'm not doing Bella any good, so I have started to use her help more.  Here she is helping me chop broccoli for dinner.  Soooo easy... she just pushes the button!
Something she has been helping me with is the babies' bottles.  She loves, and in facts begs to do them when I am unloading the dishwasher.

Creation- Day 7 and review

So for day 7 of creation, we read the passage of God resting.  We did not do an activity but instead reviewed.
Day 7, Day 7
God rested up in heaven!
Day 7, Day 7
God rested up in heaven!

So the first thing we did was watched a couple of videos retelling the story of creation.

http://vimeo.com/11156584  (This one is pretty cool!  In this video, the account of Creation is read directly from Scripture with real life video and photos of his creation.  It's well done and only about 5 min. long) Bella definitely preferred this one.

(It's an animated version with text on the screen that you will have to read aloud to younger ones.)

Then she wanted to show daddy the video we watched.

Then we worked on a book I got from here.  It is a picture for each day of the week.  She is actually starting to color in the lines!

After she colored all the pictures, I covered it with a piece of construction paper and made it into a booklet.  She loves looking at her finished work.

Here are all the finished art projects and coloring pages she did for Creation.

Let's learn!

We worked on our numbers this week by using some Winnie the Pooh flash cards I got from the Dollar Tree.  A great place to get learning items!!!!
I would have her first count the honey pots on the card I would give her.  Then I either ask for the number 1 or the word 1.  She did pretty good on this.  We do need a little more practice but we are getting there!

She then would flip over her matches and see the picture she made and would count whatever the picture indicated.

We then worked on some play-dough activities.  She made the number one with play-dough first, like we did with the letter "a".  I then drew a line down the center of the play dough and would then give her a stamp of either the  letter "a" or number "1".  She would then have to stamp it on the correct side.

Then she got to use the magnet pom poms I made her to make our shape of the month.  When I instructed her, I asked her to follow the lines when putting on a pom pom.  I was thinking she would put them right on the line, not in between the two.  How our minds are all so different!

We did some other things this week with colors but forgot to get pics :-/ oops!

Letter A - part 2

Well I got it in.  A busy week and I was able to find time to do the little "a" art project.  "a" is for Apple!  I cut out all the pieces- seeds, stem, leaves, letter a, and the white middle.  Bella then glue all the pieces together.  She loves seeing the finished product!

We also did shadow matching. The colored pictures have a Big a and the shadows have a little a. Once she understood what I wanted her to do, she was able to do this fairly well.  The snack may have helped too :)

We also worked on some prewritting skills.  She kinda did this, but at this point wanted to do her own thing.

And I managed to get a picture of the two of us working on writing the letter A.  Though this did take a lot of convincing lol. :) Nonetheless I LOVE it :)

Creation- Day5&6

Here are Day 5 and 6! Bella did her Day 5 coloring picture.

As for the craft we did a fish bowl.  She first colored a paper plate blue for the fish bowl.  Then I painted her hand and made two fish.  She then got to fingerprint bubbles.

The Day 5 song is:
Day 5, Day 5,
God made birds and fish alive,
Day 5, Day 5,
God made birds and fish alive,

Day 6 we learned about God making man and animals.

For Day 6 instead of a craft, we did an activity.  I brought out a variety of animals and people and she then had to sort.  She did ok with this, but I think she was distracted today.

I helped her differentiate the difference between animals and people and what makes us special to God!  Next week we will work on this more.  The Day 6 song is not so rhymey lol
Day 6, Day 6,
God made animals and people,

Day 6, Day 6,
God made animals and people.

Creation- Day 3&4

For Day 3 we did our coloring sheet again and we did Dot art of a flower. She did really well with staying in the dots this time.  I think we have this skill!  The song we sang was:
Day 3, Day 3,
God made flowers and plants and trees,
Day 3, Day 3,
God made flowers and plants and trees,

Later that night to reinforce, we used and iPad coloring app where she colored another flower.

For Day 4 we made a Sun, Moon and Star Mobile.  She painted a paper plate for the Sun.  I had star stickers that she put on a star that I cut out of construction paper.  I then was given some sparkly contact paper that I cut into scraps and let her stick it on a cut out of a moon.  I then hung it on a hanger and proudly displayed her work!

Here she is working on the Day 4 coloring sheet.

The Day 4  for song goes like this:
Day 4, Day 4,
God made sun, moon, stars galore,
Day 4, Day 4,
God made sun, moon, stars galore

I hope to get a video of her singing all the days to post at a later date!

Here is the blog I have been getting my ideas from.

First week of Tot school

For our shape of the month we are doing square.  Her first intro to this was tracing a square page that I laminated.  I got all the shapes from here.

Our color of the month is white.  I have these coloring sheets where we will color the picture first, then match it to the shape.  The next thing we will do is, there is another sheet already colored and we will match those with the one she colored.  However, we didn't color today because its hard to color white lol.

I made a sensory bin filled with white item to help with teaching white.
We also started to work on number 1.  She knows one pretty well so we are probably going to work really hard and trying to get her to write the number one.
We also worked on Letter A. But I'm saving that for another post as we work on a letter for 2 weeks.

And the twins worked on Reading...

And crawling!

And Ada is all about climbing :)
