Letter - D and ABC review

So this week has been nuts.  My husband started a new job this week which now means he his not home as much each day.  We get him on Saturdays now, but less each day.  And this week he had training over night so I was alone two nights this week!!!! It went pretty well though cuz I had help :)

So learning this week was a little on the low side.  But I am thankful for the times that we did have.
So we did some more "D" work.  Here she is counting dinosaurs and then placing bottle caps that had the corresponding numbers on it. She actually liked this one a lot.

Next she distinguished between Big and Little "D"

She also did some D stamping.

Next we did a lot of Letter Review.  So here I laid out all her letter flash cards.  We sung our abc's as she walked around.  I had her find her letters.

Here she is being silly while learning :) She finding the letters in alphabetical order.

Next I wrote out the letters she has learned.  I then had her place the matching letters. I did several different things to make this challenging in different ways.

Here I put them out of order and she had to switch to the correct order.

Next I wanted her to put them in alphabetical order on her own.  She did ok with this.

Our Bible story was Baby Moses.

Letter D - part 1 and Valentine fun

So now that we are in February, we are onto a new shape, color and number.  We are working on Pink, Heart and 2.  So of course for Valentines, we did heart themed work.

Here she is working on a couple of "What's Different" sheets.  This was was a good activity for her because it was just challenging enough.

Here we used the magnetic pom poms to mark "How Many."

I just LOVE her expressions in these pictures.  She had to color in each heart.  For some reason, she loved this activity :)

Then we did some pattern work. She is getting better at finding the correct picture for the pattern.  I think she doesn't quite get the idea of patterns itself though.

Next she sorted Valentines and Kids.
She also got to do one of her favorite things lately, cutting.  She can not cut in a line at this point.  It's more of snips around the page.

She is getting better at following the lines for her prewriting work.  She actual puts a lot of thought and concentration into this.

She also got to use heart stamps and paint to make a picture.

Our Bible lesson was about Daniel in the Lions Den.  So I found this print out of a lion made of hearts! Perfect!!!!  I cut out the pieces and then would show Bella how to glue it together.  She was really proud of this work.

Letter D Work

She did a lot of dot art work the one day for letter D.

Then she works on some "D" Dinosaur work.  Here she is matching colors with the dinosaurs.

Next we did some prewriting...
Then she got to color and use stickers to decorate her letter paper.
The bible story for this day is Joseph and his coat of many colors.  This was a two day project.  First she finger painted a piece of construction paper.  Then the next day I cut out a coat and she got to glue it on a man I drew....

And yeah I'm no artist at all.  Hence the printing out of EVERYTHING. haha

Bella is particularly fond of dressing herself.  So this day I let her choose certain parts of her outfit... the boots, stocking and skirt :)

Letter C - "The Very Hungry Catepillar" and Bible Lessons

So for letter "C" this week we used our "Very Hungry Catepillar" Tot pack and a couple of other resources that I found.

In the Tot pack she worked on matching colors to the food the Catepillar ate...

Then she used pom poms to match her Big and Little Letters on a cookie sheet.  She did really well with this and in fact took it a step further, on her own- and would put the matching color pom pom on the correct letter hehe.
Also she did her usual prewriting work.  She is trying more and more to follow the curved lines as opposed to just drawing straight across.
I found a site that had additional activities for her to do since a lot of what was in the tot pack, I felt as if she would not be able to do yet.  So here she is counting dot for the length of the body of the caterpillar.

Then I would tell her what the color word was and asked her to find the crayon for that circle.  To help her understand that I wanted her to stay in a specific circle for each color, I outlined the circle in marker after she identified the correct color.
Then for her letter "C" craft, we made the caterpillar by painting the palm of her hand and she had to stay on the C that I drew.
Here I would write out different letters, numbers or shapes and ask her to stamp the one I called out.  She actually wanted to keep doing this after she understood my instructions.
I have these practice writing sheets that I printed and laminated and Bella has loved working on them.  I have all the letters and numbers that we have learned.

Our Bible stories this week were the Tower of Babel and Abraham. So for the Tower of Babel, we focused on how we always need God.  So we then started to build a tower of our own and when Ada would knock it over it was a great opportunity to talk about how we need God for all things!

Then we got to make a Tower of Babel at snack time with Graham Crackers :)

For the story of Abraham, we focused on the idea of God keeping His promise to Abraham.  So her craft for that was putting star stickers on a piece of black construction paper with a bible verse.

And then I had to had some Twin love :) They are getting sooo big.

Who built the ark? And Letter C - part 1

This weeks themes centered around Noahs Ark and the letter C.

So I will first go over what we did with Noah.  Each day we read from her children's Bible the story of Noah.
The first day we concentrated on how Noah obeyed God by building the ark.  We talked about how obey God brings blessings and safety.  Then we used a box I had and "built" an ark!

She loved to pretend to be Noah and go in her ark.

The second day we talked about all the work Noah had to do to gather the animals.  So I let her bring stuffed animals into the ark with her.  We also have the Melissa and Doug Ark and we worked on matching animals 2 by 2.

Even the twins got to do some matching and animal sound learning with Bella :)

On the third day, we talked about the rainbow and God's promise to us.  We talked about how his promise is because He loves us and cares for us.  So we did LOTS of color activities that day.

First we made a rainbow on a paper plate with her dot markers.  I started it by making lines for her to follow.

Next we did a game where I would tell her to do certain actions to a color.
Here she is jumping to blue.
Here we are flying to purple

And crawling to red.

Then I had her take blocks I would give her and find the matching color mat.

hehe I love Ada's face.
The we all read a book on colors.

Here she is working on matching color words with the color mat.  She liked this more than I thought she would!

Now for our Letter "C" work!  We did some playdough work....

Prewritting line work....
 Letter tracing and coloring...
Dot Art...

Differentiating between Big "C" and Little"c". This was difficult as they look the same.
Then she did "C" stamping.  I actually used play dough stamps.
Then we did the YUMMIEST part of "C" week :) We made Cookies! We even let the twins help bake!

For Christmas Bella got these Melissa and Doug scissors... Sooo "C" is for cutting!  She loved it! She sat and did this for 15 minutes with no help!  She can't open them very well.  So after she cuts, she uses 2 hands to open them :)

We also worked on some number 1 pages.  The first one she is painting with a q-tip and marker water.  "Marker what?" you say?  Well my little girl likes to forget to cap her markers, so they dry out.  Well instead of throwing them away, you soak the markers in water and you have paint!

Here she traced her name and I helped her with the top line of 1's but she did the bottom all by herself!
